NetflixSense8 Season 2 Launch
As senior writer with Campfire, I helped build a Shorty Award-winning chatbot for Sense8 — it talked with fans, read the feelings they revealed in conversation, and generated a one-of-a-kind video gift for each of them.

Nomi’s Gift — the experience
The full fan experience, from conversation to personalized gift.
How do you market a show about human connection by actually connecting?
Sense8 is Netflix’s sci-fi series about eight strangers across the world who suddenly share each other’s feelings, skills, and senses. A show about radical empathy deserved marketing that did more than describe it. It needed to make fans feel it.

The experience read fans’ emotional cues and gave each of them a personalized video.
An AI that didn’t just answer you — it felt you
We built a chatbot that connected with fans the way a sensate cluster connects with each other. It talked with you, picked up on the emotions you revealed in conversation, and made you something personal in return: a one-of-a-kind video gift, generated from how you felt. This was 2016, years before generative AI had a name.
A chatbot that read your feelings — and gave you something back.

Writing a machine that felt human — and queer-affirming
As senior writer, I became the character Nomi, writing the conversational flows as her, and imbuing the experience with the emotional logic that let a chatbot feel warm, intuitive, and true to the show’s deeply queer heart. I also identified ships and dynamics popular with fans and logged and clipped hours of footage to pull and cut the most effective shots that would work for the gifted auto-generated fan vids. Every branch had to earn a fan’s trust and reward their vulnerability with something that felt made just for them.
